Ecologists in Action denounce contamination in Murcia region

Posted on Oct 13, 2007

The environmental group Ecologists in Action last week denounced the Murcia region in a press release, saying that the level of contamination in the air for the month of September exceeded the permitted levels on eleven separate occasions.

They recorded contamination levels above 120 microgrammes per cubic metre, the level deemed safe for our health. The measuring station at San Basilio recorded the majority of the incidents, whilst the station for Murcia - Alcantarilla recorded two incidents.
Ecologists in Action say that the recommended levels were also exceeded around twenty times in the month of August, and on one occasion the contamination level was as high as 180 microgrammes per cubic metre. Time to clean up our act!
