Murcia Region has “Worst” electricity service in Spain
The socialist representative José Ramó Jara last week complained that the region of Murcia has “the worst” electricity service in the whole of Spain, according to the latest data Published by the Ministry for Industry.
In a press release, he explained that the index used to measure the service was called the Tiempo de Interruption Equivalente de la Potencia Instalada (TIEPE) and that the figure for Murcia was the highest, apart from the region of Ceuta and Mellila. Adding that for 2006 the index for our region was 1.5 points above the national average, he commented that it was “incomprehensible” that a region such as Murcia where electricity is both produced and “exported” to other areas, could have such a poor performance.
“Iberdrola have put a lot of investment into Murcia” he said, “ but very little of that has been spent on the regional distribution.”
There are plans in place to improve service to the area, and much of the work will be funded by public money.
“It seems clear that the Government in the region have allowed investment , but have not prioritised or adapted the investment to benefit at a regional level.” said José Ramó Jara .
